Paul M. Reagan, age 90 of Lincoln, passed away peacefully with his family by his side on May 4, 2014. He was born July 27, 1923 in Nazareth, Pennsylvania to William A. and Gertrude (Miller) Reagan. Paul graduated from Nazareth High School in 1943 and in the same year he joined the U.S. Army Air Corps. Paul served in the Army Air Corps from 1943 until 1945 and retired from the U.S. Air Force in 1970.
Survivors include his wife Phyllis of Lincoln, son Mike Reagan of Lincoln, Daughters Becky Reagan of Omaha and Amy Reagan of O’Fallon, Illinois. Granddaughters Sarah Russell and her husband Ryan of Belleville, Illinois and Carol Blanchard of O’Fallon, Illinois. Brother and sister-in-law William A. Reagan, Jr. and his wife Flo of Shippensburg, Pennsylvania. Nieces and Nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers George A. Reagan and Kinsey Reagan, sisters Pauline, Marion and Maude.

Una M. Wells, age 90 of Lincoln, passed away peacefully May 7, 2014. She was born September 7, 1923 in Haddam, Kansas to Carl S. and Maude E. (Drips) Multer. She married Max Wells on June 1, 1946. In the early years Una taught school in a one room school house while living in Kansas. She also worked as a PBX operator for the Nebraska Book Company. Una was a member of the First United Methodist Church, United Methodist Women, Church Women United and the Women’s Wesleyan Educational Council.
Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Jeanne Ann and Robert Reynolds of Overland Park, Kansas; grandsons, Kenneth and Christine Reynolds of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Michael and Julie Reynolds and their children Max and Rachel of New Port Richie, Florida. Steven and Chastine Reynolds and their children Nolan and Katie of Montezuma, Iowa. She was preceded in death by her husband, Max and her parents.
Celebration of Life service will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Monday, May 12, 2014 at the First United Methodist Church, 2723 N. 50th Street. Graveside services will be held at 9:30 A.M. on Monday, May 12, 2014 at Lincoln Memorial Park Cemetery.

Ardath V. Barber, age 87 of Lincoln passed away peacefully with her family by her side on May 7, 2014. She was born April 19, 1927 in Syracuse, Nebraska to Frank and Ellen (Leech) Nosky.

LaVonnie M. Kinney, age 82 of Lincoln, passed away May 9, 2014. She was born May 3, 1932 in Lyons, Nebraska to Louis and Edith (Johnson) Poeschl. Married Bobby D. Kinney on June 12, 1953 in Tekamah, Nebraska. LaVonnie worked as a bank teller at Nebraska State Savings & Loan for 19 years, she also worked at Touch & Go for 18 years.
Survivors include daughters and sons-in-law, Denise and Donn Steinbach of Lincoln, Rita and David Mattson of Valrico, Florida. Son and daughter-in-law, Kevin and Shelly Kinney of Ralston, Nebraska. Delores (Meyers) Rosenthal, 88, Lincoln, formerly of Hickman & Greenwood, NE, died in the early hours of Monday, May 12th, 2014.
Born in 1926 to parents John and Edna (Raasch) Meyers, she spent her childhood years facing the challenges of the Great Depression and the dust bowl. She graduated from high school just as the United States entered into WWII. Despite spending her formative years in some of the country’s most trying times, Delores emerged as a tough and vibrant person. Growing up without many material comforts, she developed a life long love of telling tales and sharing conversations with friends and near strangers alike. There was little in this world that she enjoyed more than a cup of coffee and a good friend with which to share a lively talk. If you ever went looking for Delores, there was always a n excellent chance of finding her at a neighbor’s kitchen table or at Biggs Burger Barn, coffee in hand; telling a joke, sharing a story or simply chatting away. She told tales of stealing outhouses with her beloved brother, Max; grasshoppers eating the curtains; lemonade in the root celler with her Aunt Marguarite, living in New York City during the 50′s and the list goes on. After adopting her two children, Bob and Janet, the stories usually started with the phrase, “You know what my d#*n kid did today?” Later the tales of grandchildren, told with pride, dominated her conversations. Delores was quick witted with a comeback for everything and a saying to fit every situation. Never one to shy away from sharing her opinion (or a carefully placed cuss word,) she managed to pull this off with a (mostly) entertaining skill few possess. While quick to point out what she found lacking, she was much more swift to tell friends and family how proud she was of them, and how much they where loved.
She was hard working, but always managed to make a person feel like there was time for the important stuff. Her childhood installed in her a strong sense of frugality that never went way. Delores had little place in her world for non-practical things, and she was a great tosser of stuff. Yet, she never made those around her feel like they had to go without. Her generosity of spirit always made you feel that life was bountiful with things that money could not buy.
Delores was a great mother and a great friend. She had an amazing talent of combining the two roles and, when needed, often mothered her friends and friended her children. Every person who had Delores in her life, has a story to tell about her. Yet all agree that she is difficult one to describe. She was tough, spunky, ornery, funny, out-spoken, stubborn, colorful, a greater lover of sweets and books and full of life up to the very end. All this was wrapped around a soft and warm, loving core that she only revealed to those she held dear. Delores was a force to be reckon with, a one of a kind great dame. There will never be another like her, and she will be missed. She leaves us all with a life time of stories to treasure and share.
Delores was proceeded in death by her parents, John and Edna Meyers; her beloved brother Max Meyers and his wife, Jean; her husband LeRoy Rosenthal; her brother-in-law (and verbal sparring partner,) Donald Dorenbach, and numerous friends and family members.
She is survived by son, Bob Rosenthal and his wife, Jamie, grandchildren Abigail and Raiden; daughter, Janet Froschheiser and her husband John, granddaugher Lydia; close family friend Deb Burkey and her husband Mark and son Taylor (George;) sister-in-law, Elenore Dorenbach; nephew Steve Meyers and many friends who remember her fondly.
Funeral service is to be held at the Wyuka Funeral Home, 3600 “O” Street, Lincoln, NE at 2 p.m. on Thursday, May 15th, 2014. The service and interment will be followed by a reception, also held at the Wyuka Funeral Home. In honor of Delores’ sweet tooth, many desserts will be served. Memorials to the family.
Erma Marie Faling (Sieck), born February 12,1917- Passed away peacefully January 10, 2014
She was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, Marvin Roe Faling. Survivors include four children: Marva Jo Morgan (James Morgan) of Aurora, CO, Janice Faling (Clark Fortner) of Centennial, CO, Herb Faling (Anne Marie Koshuta) of Washington D.C and Jeff Faling (Andrea Faling) of Lincoln. One Granddaughter Victoria Faling of Washington DC.
Born in Lincoln, she grew up on a farm near Martell, NE, returning to Lincoln to graduate from Lincoln High School. In addition to raising her four children, she was passionate about art and an active member of the Grand Island Sketch Club for many years. She was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church in Lincoln.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Wednesday, May 21, 2014 at Wyuka Funeral Home. Interment will be at Wyuka Cemetery.

Darlene Madeline Herriott, age 89 of Lincoln, NE died on Thursday, May 15, 2014 in Lincoln. She was born in Council Bluffs, IA on October 17, 1924 to Daniel and Mina (Sellers) Gerholt. Darlene married Bruce Herriott on September 1, 1945. She lived by her faith in God, her love of family and service to children everywhere.
No visitation. A celebration of life service will be held on Friday May 23, 2014 at 11:00 A.M. at Southminster United Methodist Church, 2915 S 16th Street in Lincoln 68502. A light lunch and time for fellowship with family and friends will be provided immediately thereafter in the church Fellowship Hall.
Darlene nurtured family and friends, generously shared her musical talents with the community and pursued life-long learning. Professionally she was a certified and commissioned Christian educator. Taught Sunday school and piano. A member of Southminster UMC and the UMW for 55 years (3 as President) and the 30th annual recipient of the Dedicated Light award in 1988. Coordinated and chaired multiple conferences, committees and organizations including 5 years as a Girl Scout leader and awarded a National PTA life membership.
Darlene is survived by; step-sister-in-law Sonya Struthers; son, Dan Herriott and wife Nataliya; daughter, Pat Amedeo and husband Doug; four grandchildren, Angela Finch and husband Arne, Christopher Herriott and fiancé Lisa, Jeffrey Herriott and wife Tressa, Inga Guliyeva; ten great-grandchildren, Chelsea McGrath, Sasha Herriott, Brandy Finch, Cody Herriott, Christian Herriott, Brittney Herriott, Mason Herriott, Aiden Herriott, Madelyn Finch, Ethan Finch; two great-great grandchildren, Sadie Ellyn, Melayna Marie; and nieces, nephew and families. Preceded in death by parents, husband Bruce Herriott and daughter Jane Herriott.
Memorials in lieu of flowers are requested and may be directed to Southminster UMC or Peoples City Mission.

Layne E. “Skip” Westmoreland, age 82 of Lincoln passed away with his family at his side on May 19, 2014. He was born May 8, 1932 in Lincoln to Ashley and Lillian (Pieron) Westmoreland.
Survivors include his wife, Tonda of Lincoln. Daughters and sons-in-law, Tamra and Jeff Filbrandt, AdriAnn Durand, Courtney and Jim Farkas all of Lincoln. Daughter, Katherine Blanchard of Omaha. Son and daughter-in-law, Robert Lane and Tammy Westmoreland of San Diego. 8 Grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren. Brother, Ashley Westmoreland of Portland, Oregon. Preceded in death by his parents, son: Todd and son: Phillip. Sister, Jean Elliott.

Ed Zimmer hosted a tour of Wyuka cemetery May 18 on a beautiful Sunday afternoon. Thank you Ed for another wonderful historical walk through the cemetery.
Ed Zimmer started the tour in Rudge Chapel. The chapel’s interior features a lovely oak pulpit carved with acorns and oak leaves. Funerals and occasional weddings are held in the building as well as the main Chapel in the Main Building next to Rudge.

The oldest building in the cemetery, constructed in 1886. The Vault was built to hold caskets when the ground was too frozen in the winter to open graves.
Wyuka has a few early gravestones with portrait photographs. The technique glazed the image onto a porcelain plaque, creating a photograph that was both crisp and remarkably stable.
Walter W. Powell, age 82 of Lincoln, passed away May 20, 2014. He was born July 5, 1931 in Cape Girardeau, Missouri to Wilmer and Violet (Grantham) Powell. Walter served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War. He was active in the Tangier Shrine, serving as Past Potentate. He was also a member of the G.W. Lininger Masonic Lodge #268 and a 32° member of the Valley of Omaha Scottish Rite.
Survivors include his wife Jeanne of Lincoln. Son and daughter-in-law, Steve and Janet Powell of San Antonio, Texas and a daughter, Tera Soule of Cheyenne, Wyoming. Step children, Sondra and Alan Stoltenberg of Gretna, Ward and Cheryl Reesman of Omaha, Robyn and Scott Ecklund of Bartelsville, Oklahoma and Chris Reeder of Lincoln. Grandchildren and spouses, Ryan and Whitney Soule, Marie Soule, Blake Soule, Elizabeth and Philipp Brumm, Sam Stoltenberg, Tim Stoltenberg, Mick Stoltenberg, Sally Stoltenberg, Matthew Reesman, Eryn Reesman, Chantel Ecklund, Eden Ecklund, Britt Ecklund, Elise Ecklund, Elijah Ecklund and Gabriel Ecklund. Great granddaughter, Ava Soule. Brother, Herb Powell of Plattsmouth, Nebraska and Sister, Donna Rae Roth of Omaha. Walter was preceded in death by 2 brothers, Delbert Powell and David Powell.
Services will be held at 10:00 A.M. on May 31, 2014 at Wyuka Funeral Home, 3600 O Street, Lincoln. No viewing or visitation, Walter’s wishes were for cremation.

Elnore R. Shear, 84, of Lincoln, died May 27, 2014. Born June 4, 1929 in Burlington, Colorado to Howard and Leta Burns of Osceola and Stromsborg, NE.
Memorial Services will be held at Trinity United Methodist Church in Lincoln, NE on Friday, May 30, at 11:00 a.m. Pastor Jim Keyser will be officiating. Burial to follow at a later date.
Elnore graduated from Lincoln High in 1947 and married Bruce T. Shear that same year; together they raised seven children. She has been an active member of Trinity United Methodist Church for over 50 years- as a Sunday School Teacher and also instrumental in starting the Trinity Infant & Childcare Centers where she was Director for 15 years. She attained her Bachelor of Arts from UNL in 1986. Elnore was a Girl Scout Troop Leader & Organizer; and also active in the Great Plains Doll Club, TOPS Club where she was State Queen, and the Capital City Carver’s Club. Her real passion was her family and grandchildren. She loved her flowers and gardening.
Elnore is survived by her husband Bruce; sons, Bruce Jr. and Howard Shear; daughters, Rosanne Thomas, Susan Gildersleeve, Sonya (Bryan) Richardson, SuLyn (Jeff) Medvin, and Henrietta (Steve) Haack; brothers, Gene and Donald Burns; sister, Joyce Thimgan; six grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, family and friends.
She is preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Ileen Ricky and Betty Taylor; and brother Carroll Burns.

Robert H. Nimic, Age 88 of Lincoln. Passed away in his sleep the morning of June 2, 2014.
Bob was born in Omaha, NE May 29, 1926 to Anton and Clara (Zimmerman) Nimic, graduated from Glenwood High School, served in the U.S. Navy during World War II, graduated from UNL School of Pharmacy, and was a registered pharmacist in Nebraska for 50 years. He enjoyed playing ping-pong with his friends at Calvert Rec. Center, was active in the Craftsman Lodge No. 314 A.F. & A.M., Sesostris Shrine, OES Starcraft No. 317, Pleasant Dale American Legion, Nebraska Pharmacists Association, and member of Southwood Lutheran Church.
Survivors include his wife Faye of Lincoln; his children: Stephen A. Nimic, Robert J. Nimic, George D. Nimic, Franklin P Nimic, Gisele and Mark Pollins, Dana and Sue Nimic, Chris and Kim Nimic, and Drew and Linda Nimic, his step-daughter Karin Lamkins and husband R.G. , his eight grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren. Bob was preceded in death by his first wife Georgia F. Nimic, step-sister, Marie Klasna, and step-brother, Franklin A. Nimic.
A Celebration of Life service will be held 3:00pm Thursday June 5 at Southwood Lutheran Church, 4301 Wilderness Hills Blvd, Lincoln, NE 68516. A private internment for the family will be held at Wyuka Cemetary. No viewing or visitation, Bob’s wishes were for cremation. Memorials to the Matt Talbot kitchen and Capital Humane Society.
Wyuka started the Memorial Day service at 8:30 A.M. May 26 on the bridge overlooking the pond.
Memorial Day is a day of remembrance for those who have died serving our country.

Willard “Jack” Eigsti, age 82 of Lincoln, passed away June 4, 2014. He was born September 18, 1931 in Matteson, Illinois to Wilmer E. and Ruth (Bontrager) Eigsti. Jack was a Korean War Veteran serving with the U.S. Army as a radio operator. He married Leona Senseney on June 18, 1955. Jack was a member of Connecting Pointe Church of the Nazarene, serving as the district secretary for 29 years. He was a Hastings College graduate earning a B.A. in math and physics. Jack worked for American Stores and Cook Foods as an engineer for 37 years. He also, owns a co-patent on a battery part.
Survivors include his wife Leona of Lincoln, Daughters and sons-in-law: Janet and Robert Baty of Omaha, Jackie and Jeff Shanahan of Billings, Montana. Son and daughter-in-law: Mark and Linda Eigsti of Ottumwa, Iowa. Alfred J. Lespreance, age 91 of Lincoln, formerly of Hastings passed away June 4, 2014. He was born September 20, 1922 in Galveston, Texas to Fred and Ida (Hobbs) Lespreance. Alfred worked at Lincoln Public Schools for 28 years as a building superintendent. He was also employed by Corvettes Limited for 17 years with his specialty being “executive supervisor” of ALL employees.
Survivors include his wife Carol of Lincoln. Son and daughter-in-law: Richard and Vicki Lespreance of Lincoln, daughter: Jacquélyn Huxoll of Arapahoe, Nebraska. Grandchildren: Torre Lespreance and Larissa Lespreance both of Lincoln, Chadric and Ashley Herbert of Kearney and Aleesha Herbert of Omaha.
