Darlene M.G. Herriott

Herriott (obit)Darlene Madeline Herriott, age 89 of Lincoln, NE died on Thursday, May 15, 2014 in Lincoln.  She was born in Council Bluffs, IA on October 17, 1924 to Daniel and Mina (Sellers) Gerholt.  Darlene married Bruce Herriott on September 1, 1945.  She lived by her faith in God, her love of family and service to children everywhere.

No visitation. A celebration of life service will be held on Friday May 23, 2014 at 11:00 A.M. at Southminster United Methodist Church, 2915 S 16th Street in Lincoln 68502.  A light lunch and time for fellowship with family and friends will be provided immediately thereafter in the church Fellowship Hall.

Darlene nurtured family and friends, generously shared her musical talents with the community and pursued life-long learning. Professionally she was a certified and commissioned Christian educator. Taught Sunday school and piano.  A member of Southminster UMC and the UMW for 55 years (3 as President) and the 30th annual recipient of the Dedicated Light award in 1988.  Coordinated and chaired multiple conferences, committees and organizations including 5 years as a Girl Scout leader and awarded a National PTA life membership.

Darlene is survived by; step-sister-in-law Sonya Struthers;  son, Dan Herriott and wife Nataliya; daughter, Pat Amedeo and husband Doug; four grandchildren, Angela Finch and husband Arne, Christopher Herriott and fiancé Lisa, Jeffrey Herriott and wife Tressa, Inga Guliyeva; ten great-grandchildren, Chelsea McGrath, Sasha Herriott, Brandy Finch, Cody Herriott, Christian Herriott, Brittney Herriott, Mason Herriott, Aiden Herriott, Madelyn Finch, Ethan Finch; two great-great grandchildren, Sadie Ellyn, Melayna Marie; and nieces, nephew and families.  Preceded in death by parents, husband Bruce Herriott and daughter Jane Herriott.

Memorials in lieu of flowers are requested and may be directed to Southminster UMC or Peoples City Mission.

A special thanks to the staff at Bickford Cottage for their compassionate and loving care during the past two years and the Aseracare Hospice team more recently.
