March 21, 1970- September 2, 2024

Stella John Kazas-Kalogeras, 54, of Lincoln, passed away September 2, 2024. She was the most caring and loving mother to her two amazing sons. There is nothing that Stella cherished more than her “boys” and there is nothing that they cherish more than her. Her laughter and sense of humor always filled a room with joy.

She was a loving and caring daughter. She was loyal to her beloved mother and father. Family was everything to Stella. Nothing came before her family.

Stella always stood by her husband through thick and thin. She never gave up on him. She will always be his guardian angel. She was beautiful, smart, perfect and the best friend a man could ever ask for.

She loved all of her siblings and valued the individual relationships with each of them. She always found time to have fun with them.

Stella was very proud of her Greek heritage. She loved the music, the food, the dancing, and most of all the sense of togetherness. She was a proud lifelong member of the Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church in Lincoln, NE.

She loved working at Bryan Hospital for several years. Everything from housekeeping, medical records to a surgical technician. Before, during, and after working there she worked in the family businesses. They included Bonanza Steakhouse, Papa Johns Greek Restaurant, Salon Muse, and The Parthenon.

Stella is survived by her husband, John Kalogeras; sons, Yianni Kalogeras and George-Michael Kalogeras; sisters, Sophia Kazas, Mariana (Steve) Hurst, Angela (Bob) Grenier; brothers, George (Shana Damian) Kazas, Michael (Catalina) Kazas; nieces and nephews, Thespina (Tessa) Hurst, Jacoby Hurst, Sofia Hurst, Gianna Grenier, Ehvie Grenier, Despina (Ania) Kazas, Ioannis (Ios) Kazas, Despina Kazas, Hannah, Aliza and Anthony Damian. She is also survived by Pete, Stella, George, and Jimmy Hametis and many other family members.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Despina and John Kazas; grandparents George and Sofia Kazas, Mike and Stella Kritikos; mother-in-law, Eva Kalogeras; and many other family members.

Visitation will be held 5:00 – 7:00 p.m., followed by Trisiagon services at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 5 at Wyuka Funeral Home, 3600 “O” Street. Funeral will begin at 11:00 a.m. Friday, Sept. 6, at Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church, 950 N 63rd Street. Memorials may be directed to the family for further designation to various churches and monasteries in Greece.
