Howard L. Hight, 79, was born February 22, 1945, in Denver, CO, and passed away Augst 1, 2024, in Lincoln, NE. Howard lived in Colorado until he took a job with a telephone company in Nebraska, where he met his beloved wife, Judith “Judy” (Wredt) Hight. They both worked for LT&T for 38 years and retired together on June 1, 2000.
Howard and Judy were married on October 14, 1984, in Lincoln, NE. Throughout his life, Howard was a dedicated Nebraska football and volleyball fan, never missing a college football game. His hobbies included hunting, fishing, and bowling. Known for his exceptional skills and generosity, Howard was the go-to person whenever something needed fixing.
He is survived by his wife, Judy, and their children: Merritt Roach Jr. (spouse Tammy Hulse Roach) of Lincoln; Cheryl (Roach) Leiting (spouse Jeremy Leiting) of Lincoln; Leigh (Hight) Garver (spouse Don Garver) of Fort Morgan, CO; Jo (Hight) Rogers (spouse Pat Rogers) of Wiggins, CO; Natasha (Hight) Rose of Lincoln, NE; and Shanna (Hight) Gibson of Lincoln, NE. He is also survived by 19 cherished grandchildren.
Howard will be remembered for his unwavering dedication to his family, his love of sports, and his remarkable ability to lend a helping hand. A memorial gathering to honor Howard’s life will be held at Wyuka Funeral Home, 3600 “O” Street, Lincoln on Friday, August 16, 2024, from 10:30 AM to 11:30AM.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Lung Cancer Foundation of America or to the Alzheimer’s Association in Howard’s memory.
